Argentina's Government to Send Labor Reform Project to Congress

The Government of Argentina will send the Labor Reform project to Congress on December 9th. This was reported by sources familiar with the meeting of the May Council, led by Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni with representatives from other institutions, including the General Confederation of Labor (CGT). However, this action was taken without a full agreement with the actors at the table, including the head of the UOCRA and CGT representative, Gerardo Martínez. In the coming days, the draft prepared by President Javier Milei's administration will be circulated. It will include some of the requests made by the Council. However, the core of the project will be dictated from Balcarce 50. The meeting took place in the Salon of Shields at the Government House and was attended by the Minister of Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger; the Governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo; the National Senator, Carolina Losada; the National Deputy, Cristian Ritondo; the General Secretary of the UOCRA, Gerardo Martínez; and the President of the UIA, Martín Rappallini. It was clarified that the reform will not be part of the 10 points of the May Pact, nor will it include the Pension Reform and the Law on Coparticipation. Additionally, government officials clarified that they will not seek to break ties with the CGT.
